I’ve been quiet on here for some time. Actually, I have been quiet in general. I tend to go inside (metaphorically speaking) when the world gets too loud, and the world is fricken loud right now. Divided. Angry. Stressed. It all just feels a bit too much. So, I have gone within while I try to make some sense of it all.
I’m aware of how difficult life is for many people right now. There’s economic doom and gloom everywhere you look and a real sense of fragility out there. People seem worried and easily triggered.
I heard a wonderful quote this morning and now is a good time to share it. ‘Beauty walks hand in hand with fragility’. It really does. I’m ever grateful for my mindfulness practices helping me to appreciate that sentiment. Life is fragile and as such, we tend to traverse life clinging to what we can control, which ultimately isn’t as much as we’d like. We can’t control the weather, the economy, government lockdowns, the plastic crisis, getting made redundant, or the fact that we are getting older with each passing day. But with consistent mindfulness practice (including meditation) we gain equanimity, which can go a long way towards managing our response to the fragility of life - including all its challenges.
But, back to the point of this post. I wrote my book to make an impact on children and families. To help drive positive change towards the anxiety epidemic our children are facing and to teach people of all ages the self-regulation skills required to make sense of a world of emotions in an already complicated world. And it’s my goal to get it to as many people as possible. Yet, everything has become more expensive. Printing costs, shipping costs, fuel costs - it all adds up. Books are much more costly to produce and I have just found out my printing company is shutting down after 70 years in business. And rising costs means people will cut back on luxury items such as children’s books. I really do want to help people walk hand in hand with life’s fragility.
So, I have reduced the price of The Little Tiger with the Big Temper to $19.95. This is great value when you consider the lessons within the story, the mindfulness guide at the back and the fact you can access a guided meditation and audiobook. If you know anyone that might like a copy, do let them know to head to www.sassymama.co and if you’re overseas, Amazon is a great option; the giant that is Jeff Bezos’ brand can ship it around the world for far less than little old me.
In other news, this week I am grateful to be teaching my first mindfulness class to a group of five-year-olds and this will be a great time to test out some of the tools I have created in my teacher’s tool kit. Once I know how they go, I will upload a proper bundle to my store. Exciting! 🤗
Go well.
